i am ashkenaz and dont wear a talis. in my school there and several sfardim who wear them. i think that my davening would be strengthened if i wore a talis. i feel it would enable me to get more into my davening so i can get more out of it. can i wear one?

Depends on the minhogim your family follows, most ashkenaz families hold that you shouldn't wear a tallis until you are married. You can ask your rabbi to make a psok for you if you feel it will really help your davening though.
