Okay, I'm going into Shidduchim right now, but because my family is not really connected to the Olam HaYeshivos, I don't know a thing about them. Can anyone list some main ones and a little bit about them just so I can know? If they say someone's learning in BMG, how is that different from Mir, or Staten Island?

I'm assuming you're a girl and you want to know what type of boy is in each of those yeshivos. BMG is a mix of basically every single type , but from a somewhat yeshivish background and are currently not in college. By mir i assume you mean mir in america. In general most guys are very yeshivish, not in college , and never will be. Staten island, not considered from the big names, but generally very aidel guys serious learners, i think, honestly dont know too many guys from staten island. But its important to know that these are all over generalized and you cannot judge a boy by the yeshiva he goes too , do the proper research. Any more questions feel free to ask. Best of luck.

newhere - a 'big name' does not mean too much. I know guys who came from unheard of yeshivos, who are the shtarkest learners and have the best middos of anyone I know - plus, staten Island, it happens, is a 'notable' yeshiva - everyone knows about it - but, the rule by and large for most yeshivos is 'yesh veyesh'.

matisyohu- When I said it's not a big name I was not by any means trying to put down the yeshiva. In fact from the little that I've seen i've been very impressed. I was just pointing out that it's not one of the big name and was surprised that it was one of the 3 yeshivos that he/she need information about.
