My brother said that there are certain things that our parents say that we can't do and we don't have to listen to them, like my mom can't asser something upon us. Is that true? Can she prohibit me from, for example, eating whipped cream on yemei chol because she doesn't me to get fat? Or is that different entirely because she is looking out for my welfare and therefore it is a mitzvah to listen to her? Can they tell us what to do and we have to listen all the time- like if my parents tell me to help my brother or do something not for them, do i have to listen? |
