ok, so we all agree that everything that happens is for the best.
and that we have free will to pick between two choices.
so if you make the wrong choice, how is it going to be for the best?
does this question make sense?

A Baal Bechira, someone with free will, can, in a way, change Hashem's plan, so to speak. We discussed this earlier.
But Hashem ensures that nothing results from the wrong decision that He didin't want to happen. If something bad happens becuase of it, it's becuase Hashem judged that the sufferer deserved the punishment, and so it's still, ultimately, for the best. But the one who made the wrong decision still gets punished, becuase they decided to do the wrong action out of free will.
Actually, the very fact the person was able to act upon this wrong decision shows that it's for the best, becuase otherwise Hashem would have kept him from doing it in the first place.

By the way! Everything is for the best does not mean that the outcome will be the same. Itís not a game that god is playing with us.

Everything is for the best means that even when it seams to us bad really itís for the good. Lets say we make wrong choices and mess up although we donít always see the effect it had on us, god does see that and will try to help us fix it and sometimes that fixing will be very painful.
Like a doctor that operates on an ill person in order to try and save his life. Is the doctor doing whatís best for him? Yes he is a very good person trying to save this persons life. Even though he is hurting him but at this point itís the best thing to do and yes the person would rather not be ill.

According to torah and chazĒl God does NOT hurt us to punish us (at least not in this world) but god will attempt to fix things for us while we are still alive so we avoid punishment in the world to come. And fixing things can be very painful

Rav mod, lechora only a good person would be punished in this world; since it helps him get to olam haba and is mechaper for his aveiros. A bad person being punished in this world would seem then, as an extension of that logic, to gave some zchusim that maybe merit him some glimmer of olam haba, or am I way off base here?(since sometimes rashayim do get punished in this world)

That can be one reason why rehsaim are punished in this world. Or, similar to what you were saying, it could be to show them that they can't get away with doing bad things, or to show others that there is punishment for aveiros. It could also be to put a stop to him, or any other reason why a rasha would, despite the above rule, be punished in this world.

Also people say Baruch Dayaan HaEmes when someone dies. Why is it that we make a bracha? How is this a good thing? Answer is that in the next world we see why this was a good thing and will realize that everything Hashem does is indeeed good.
