HEy does anyone have the wrds to the song " i am an ancient wall of stone..."?
|MODERATOR||Posted - 30 April 2002 21:07
I am an ancient wall of stone
Atop a hill so high
And if you listen with your heart
You just may hear my cry
Where has the Bais Hamikdosh gone?

moderator...i think there is another verse that you accidently left out:
You come and stand beside my stones, to raise your voice in prayer
You ask when will this galus end how much more can we bear
But sinas chinam still lives on, it lingers in your hearts
How can I come back home to you, while you remain apart.

Hey BMguy, I'm not a BIG stickler for words... but it's for someone else so I figured I'd correct you here.
You come and stand beside my stones to raise your voice in prayer

There have been different variations of the song . . . you are both right -- I've heard both.

I'll bli neder check the book that is like the song...
I was made way back in 1842
And on the day that I was finally complete
And the rabbi held me close against his chest
Three days a week they read from me aloud
But the hatred from the west came to Kiev
And for years and years I waited all alone
But it was someone else who found my hiding place
(In a case of glass?) they put me on display
And across the room I saw upon the shelf
So if you hear my voice why don't you come along
...And as the Rabbi holds me close against his chest
(and BTW, have you ever seen the unrolled Torah inside the Holocaust Museum in Washington? I haven't, but my sister said when she saw it she thought of this song and felt like crying.)

Whoops! I KNEW I forgot something (at least one thing)
Anyway, this comes RIGHT after the first verse (ends with the word "scribe")
With loving care, his hands so sure and still
Wait 'til I find the book! (I feel like such a perfectionist)
