If your family makes an early shabbos, do you have to keep that as well, or can you do muktzah activities because it isn't "really" shabbos yet?

Yes.

Wait, YES to which question? I think US asked two. And can I accept Shabbos a bit later (like 5 min) if I make a statement or something first and it doesn't go past the 18 minutes?

please answer MUSSAR, i have same question

It depends:

If your mother lit candles, that does not mean that you have to accept shabbos at that time. As long as you did not light candles, you were nto mekabel shabbos.

However, if your father was mekabel shabbos early, like he went to an early minyan, then it further depends:

If the reason he was mekabel shabbos early is because of the mitzvah of tosfos shabbos, you are indeed bound to be mekabel shabbos with him (i.e. when he says the end of lecha dodi).

However, if the reason he is making an early shabbos is because it is more practical - such as avoiding starting to eat the seudah at 10:00, or perhaps there are little kids at home who cannot stay up late enough to hear kiddush - then you are not bound by his kabbalas shabbos.

Reb Moderator,

Firstly, thank you very much for this site. Although this is the first time I have actually posted, I have been reading the different forums for several years now.

I know that davening Ma'ariv early on Shabbos has to be okay because there is an early minyan in my shul, but what are the things one must do in order to daven Ma'ariv early? Obviously, I know it is better to daven at the correct time, but I do not have a choice.

Thank you so much.

friday night, im assuming u mean.
you need to say krias shema over during its proper time.

most people hold that is allowed(apparently your shul holds like that too). but not everyone agrees - the GRA says you shouldnt make an early shabbos.
